welcome  to  the  conversation!

#OnwardHebrew is a fast-growing movement spearheaded by Jewish education directors motivated to address the challenges of Hebrew learning in their part-time/ congregational programs. Over the last five years, a number  of these educators have changed their fundamental assumptions about their approach to teaching Hebrew.

#OnwardHebrew offers a plethora of resources to support YOUR personal exploration and (hopefully) experimentation. We invite you to consider the experiences of colleagues and benefit from a wide variety of articles, documents and other supports.

Come join the conversation - here on this website, as well as on our Facebook group.

#OnwardHebrew

 "... motivation  increased,
attitudes  about  Hebrew  learning  changed,  and  we  have  far
fewer  discipline  issues.
The  culture  and  climate  of  our  Hebrew  learning  has  been
turned  on  its  head."

Rabbi  stacy  rigler,
Keneseth   israel/jquest (philadelphia, PA

The  "on-the-way" list

#OnwardHebrew is delighted to celebrate the part-time/congregational programs that have adopted the principles of sound-to-print learning, integrating three of the four learning pillars with the support and blessing of their clergy and volunteer leadership:
  • Adopting Hebrew Through Movement
  • Enriching Hebrew usage in t'fillah/worship
  • Integrating Jewish Life Vocabulary
  • Introducing Hebrew decoding after students developed a rich foundation in the sounds of Hebrew (5th grade or later)
