Jewish life vocabulary |
Jewish Life Vocabulary (JLV) is a collection of Hebrew heritage words or phrases that increases one’s connections to Jewish people, traditions, culture and life.
Chances are that you already sprinkle Jewish Life Vocabulary into your speech - "Mazal tov! What a great accomplishment!" or "We're heading to t'fillah. Jamie, could you grab the siddurim?" Formalizing a JLV curriculum allows educators to choose the words they feel are most important for their students and families. Many programs introduce JLV in a group setting - for example, during the last few minutes of t'fillah. Others ask teachers to teach a key word or two (or three) to their students each session. And a whole bunch of programs add a Letter of the Week that matches the first letter of the new JLV introduced. |
